Tolkien Musing - Risk

This musing is all about the Lord of the Rings versions of the classic board game Risk.

The Lord of the Rings version of Was the first tie-in Risk version, and because it was so successful had led to there being a lot of others.

There are a few different versions of Lord of the Rings Risk. I have always been confused as to how many versions there are, so went on an Internet quest to try to find out.

My main confusion is around what I call the 'Conquest' version, which I believe is the American packaging of the Original. Because of the significant packaging difference I had thought it was a completely separate version.

Here is the summary of what there is.

There is a dedicated website, although there is not much there.

There is also a Wiki page

American

This Original version has a small map of middle earth, which doesn't include Gondor and Morder.

The gameplay is based around traditional Risk but has a limited time element and also missions.

This expansion is the missing map which can be added to the the original game. It is quite rare.
